Houston DALHR Program—February 2018-Estimated Completion, November 2018

When massive flooding occurred in Houston and other parts of southeast Texas during Hurricane Harvey’s landfall and during the days that followed , thousands of residents were displaced. With DSW Homes headquarters in Galveston, we saw first hand the devastation that occurred. Having worked in disaster recovery programs and projects in Texas for close to ten years, we immediately knew we wanted to help. When the storm cleared and assessment was made, over 48,000 homes were reported damaged, with more than 1,000 that were completely destroyed and more than 17,000 that incurred significant damage.

The city of Houston Direct Assistance for Limited Home Repair (DALHR) program was made available to residents of Houston who qualified via FEMA. During DSW Homes tenure in this program, we performed moderate repairs to 45 units including repairs to heating, plumbing, ventilation and air conditioning, walls, floors and ceilings.
