Puerto Rico Sheltering And Temporary Essential Power (STEP)

Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico in September 2017 and was regarded as the worst natural disaster to affect the country. The hurricane caused widespread flooding, loss of power to the entire island, and destruction to countless properties.

Over 200,000 residents lost their homes and many more sustained damage. As a result, HUD awarded $1.5 billion to help Puerto Rico recover. As part of this recovery effort, DSW participated in the Tu Hogar Renace (translation: Your Home is Reborn) Program.

As part of this program, DSW performed minor rehabilitation to more than 3,000 homes.

Performing work in more than 75 different locales on the island, DSW worked to help make residences livable.
