Texas Partial Repair & Essential Power for Sheltering (PREPS)

Thousands of residents were displaced when flooding occurred in Houston and other parts of southeast Texas during Hurricane Harvey.

When the storm cleared, and assessment was made, over 48,000 homes were reported damaged, with more than 1,000 that were completely destroyed and more than 17,000 that incurred significant damage.

To immediately help Texans, the Texas General Land Office began the Texas PREPS program. This program allowed for partial repair to residents’ homes, allowing them to shelter in place until further repairs can be made. As part of this program, DSW completed repairs in 2,923 units, performing services such as cleaning and gutting, treating mold, removing insulation, installing limited heat and air conditioning, and more.
